Summer is here and I’m trying to soak up and enjoy every minute of this beautiful weather. Every morning I try to start my day by enjoying an iced coffee out on my balcony (I’ve become a pro at making them at home now!) while reading the latest novel on my bookshelf.
I often select the book I’m going to read by going into my local Saver’s (second-hand store) and buying a few of the New York Times Bestseller’s they have for sale. I just finished A Gate at the Stairs (one of my recent purchases) a novel about race, class, love and war. Since my local Saver’s is still closed, I decided to search my own home library for my next novel and decided it was time to read one of the greatest literary masterpieces of all time, Les Miserables.
It may take me all summer to finish the novel as it is no light read, but I do have a few other books lined up I also hope to get to. I’ve been taking down notes for recommended reads, and in my list I tried to include an array of subjects.
I realize this may not be the most ‘fun’ summer reading list you have ever seen, but from these literary works, I hope to expand my thinking, be inspired and ultimately, gain new perspectives.
So without further ado, here is my summer reading list!
