One of the beauty products that I always struggled with was mascara. I have super fine (and by no means long) eyelashes. I spent years trying to find the right mascara that would help lengthen and give volume to my tiny eyelashes.
I eventually found a drug store brand that worked well for me, but after learning more about clean beauty and the toxic ingredients in mascara [i.e parabens, formaldehyde, fragrance –thousands of ingredients are allowed to be filed/hidden under this term, aluminum powder (!), coal tar dyes, etc] I knew mascara had to be one of the first clean beauty switches for me.
After looking up many clean mascara’s, I bought a few different to try. Immediately the ILIA Limitless Mascara stood out as a clear winner for me.
It layered so well and has two sides to the brush–one to add volume and then one to add length!
ILIA’s mascara is a natural mascara made with a blend of waxes, aloe extract, avocado oil to condition each lash and 100% natural dye [which also makes it great for sensitive eyes].
It is also cruetly-free, and free of sulfates, phthalates, parabens, petrochemicals, mineral oil, silicone and talc; also free of formaldehyde, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban, gluten, artificial preservatives, fragrances, nanoparticles, EDTA and DEA and was Allure magazine’s ‘Best of Beauty’ award for Best Clean Beauty Makeup, 2019.
Natural products can be a difficult switch because sometimes they don’t work as well as non-natural products [because of all the synthetic ingredients], but this mascara works just as well–if not better-than the other mascaras!
And I’m so happy because the ILIA mascara was just restocked at Nordstrom! I also shared more about my tried-and-true clean beauty brand I’ve been using for 15 years in this post here. All highly recommended products!
Also if you are looking for an eyelash serum to help your eyelashes grow, I also recommend this one from Revitalash. It is paraben-free; phthalate-free; gluten-free; oil-free; fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, cruelty-free and vegan.
*Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post!
