Over the next couple of weeks I’ll focus on the different items in my capsule collection and different ways to style them. I would also love to make a YouTube video that provides a more in-depth discussion about my capsule wardrobe and selecting the right pieces for your collection–but you guys I am sooooo bad at talking in a video so I might do it on stories or an IGTV instead haha.
To kick the week off, I am sharing my favorite denim that is in my summer capsule collection! If you’ve been following along with my capsule collections, you’ll notice some familiar pieces from last year’s and last season’s collections.
I went up a pant size this past year [after starting to work out more] so I switched up a couple of items when I had to get a new size, but had I not gone up a size, you would be seeing the same pieces. And that is the whole point of a capsule wardrobe–you have classic, versatile pieces that can be worn year after year—no shopping required to have a solid wardrobe foundation for each new season.
My Favorite Denim for Summer
Blue Denim Shorts: AGOLDE PARKER LONG SHORTS in Swapmeet
On most days, you will find me living in a tank/tee and denim shorts during summer. I’ve worn the AGOLDE Parker shorts for the last year fews, and when I had to size up for my pants, I decided to go with the AGOLDE Parker Long shorts. I was looking for something with a little more coverage and I also like how the long ones are slightly higher waisted than the regular Parker shorts. I do think they are a little too long for my 5’4” frame, so I fold them up [you could also cut them since they are a raw hem to begin with].
I’ve tried many different shorts, and to me, these are hands-down THE BEST denim shorts. I realize they are pricier than most shorts, but the fit, wash, quality and comfiness…it is worth the investment. Remember, quality over quantity when it comes to building your wardrobe!
Budget-friendly alternative options I recommend: LEVI’S RIBCAGE or 501’s, EVERLANE, ABERCROMBIE

Dark-Wash Denim Shorts: AGOLDE PARKER LONG SHORTS in Chromatic
I decided to add a different wash in the mix this year so I’m not wearing the SAME thing every day haha I went with a dark wash in the same Parker long style. Both shorts are super comfy, but this was ESPECIALLY is super-soft denim. I sized down one in this wash, but it is still too big [I didn’t realize that until I took off the tag and it was too late to return]. I heard the lighter denim goes through wash more for that distressed look, so they tend to shrink/run slightly smaller. I would recommend going down two sizes for this wash.
Note: I include general descriptions of the items in my collection to give you an idea of what clothing type it is, but it doesn’t mean you have to have the same items and me! For example, instead of a dark-wash, you might prefer white shorts [which is next on my wish list lol].

Blue Jeans: Levi’s Wedgie Straight Jeans
Summer denim is all about lighter washes and comfy jeans, and I love these Levi’s wedgie straight jeans [you guys know I love my Levi’s!]! They are perfect for all-day comfort, and can easily be dressed up or down. I also love how they are cropped and the raw hem detailing. I find they run TTS.

White Jeans: Everlane High-Rise Skinny Jeans
Despite what the Gen Z’s say, I won’t be giving up my skinny jeans! Haha These white skinny jeans are in my year-round capsule because I love styling them no matter the season. I love them styled with all neutral pieces for a classic and chic summer outfit.
