My summer 2022 capsule collection is here!
My summer capsule consists of mostly relaxed, casual pieces with a few elevated pieces. Most days I’m in my activewear/loungewear so easy, comfortable pieces/outfits is what I’m about. And in the event I do need to dress up for an occasion, I have my go-to elevated pieces.
Below you can find a list of product recommendations along with outfit styling/inspiration for each piece in the collection. Some items I own from previous years are out of stock so I’ve included a similar in-stock item to recommend.
You’ll find that I add in item descriptions under each item. I do this because it’s not necessarily about the specific product shown, but rather the type/style of an item [for example, a sweater vs a sweatshirt ]. You can use my product recommendations for guidance when shopping, but my hope is that you can use the staples from your own closet to create different outfits!
What Is A Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe consists of a few essential items that don’t go out of style and can be augmented with seasonal pieces. Every capsule collection varies in size, but it is usually between 20-40 pieces that you wear for a season until you transition in new pieces to wear for the next season, and repeat.
Important Reminders:
- Don’t get stuck on the number of pieces you have in your collection! It’s not so much about the number of items you have as much as it’s about building a collection that works for YOU.
- This collection does not include everything in my wardrobe or everything I wear in a season. These are my essential pieces that allow me to easily style just about any outfit during the season, and the pieces that are on repeat probably 90% of the time.
- Everyone’s style is different so your collection doesn’t have to look like just like mine [or anyone else’s]! I hope these posts are a source of inspiration but you do not need to feel like you have to have the same items to create your own wardrobe. Stick to pieces that you love and fit your body type.
BENEFITS OF A CAPSULE WARDROBE:
- Minimizes and declutters your closet
- Saves money in the long run [no throwing out clothes constantly to stay up with the ever-changing trends]
- Helps you effortlessly style outfits [versatile pieces makes it easy to pair everything together!]
- Reduces the time you spend focusing on shopping, which allows you to increase the time you spend on other things!
- And one of the most important factors [for me at least!]–It’s sustainable!

CAMI:
You can’t go wrong with a cami. It’s perfect to wear alone or as a layering piece. I love a good linen cami for the summer season as it’s lightweight, breathable, and can be worn casually or dressed up.
Styling inspo:

RIBBED TANK:
My Madewell tanks have been on repeat [and I may have them in one too many colors! lol]. They are a quality tank with a nice amount of stretch. A little bra hack I found to work well with the Madewell tanks [so you don’t have to wear a strapless bra] is this Nordstrom bralette. The straps fall almost perfectly with the cutout of the tank [or you could wear a racer back bralette] and I like that it’s not only comfy–but it has good support! I also recommend the BR tanks linked below [has more neutral color options too], or the M.M.LaFleur ones for an option with wider cut straps.

T-SHIRT:
My comfy go-to outfit is a tee & shorts and my favorite tees are all linked below. The Everlane box cut-tee is a great slightly cropped tee, and their air tee is the comfiest oversized tee ever! I also recommend the Grey Lab tee if you prefer a longer fit than the box cut-tee [this is also the one I recommend/style in my workwear looks].

DRESSY BLOUSE:
If I’m looking for a cute/dressy top, I’ve personally found smocked square neck blouses to be my favorite. They add a nice feminine touch to your outfit, you can wear a regular bra with them, and you can dress them up with some statement jewelry. These blouses tend to sell out quickly so I’ve linked to a few options I love below from brands I love!

BUTTON-DOWN [COTTON AND/OR LINEN]:

CREWNECK SWEATER:
A neutral cashmere crew sweater is in my year-round capsule because it’s such a timeless piece! This is also a staple item I often style in my workwear looks as well. This Lilysilk cashmere crew is *the* perfect beige sweater and is so soft. I also recommend knit/cotton crewnecks for a more relaxed sweater. [Use code JAZZ12 for 12% off Lilysilk & JAZZ25 for BOGO 25% off women’s apparel & sleepwear].

SWEATSHIRT:
Along with my t-shirts, I could never live without a comfy sweatshirt [especially because I always run cold!]. A neutral sweatshirt will keep you looking chic while also being comfy & I found some super chic options I’m loving! [Most of my sweatshirt collection is from Abercrombie, and they have the comfiest sweatshirts–I just wish they had non-graphic options!].

LINEN BLAZER:
If you are looking for the perfect chic layering piece for summer — a linen blazer is it. I love this one from Ann Taylor because it’s the perfect amount of oversized/relaxed. This has also been styled many times on my IG/workwear reels!

BLUE DENIM SHORTS:
If you’ve been following my capsules for the last few seasons, you probably know that my AGOLDE shorts are my absolute favorite. BUT this year I tried Madewell’s relaxed shorts, and they are nearly tied with my AGOLDE ones — but nearly half the cost if you snag them on sale! Both are great quality shorts and have a relaxed fit so they aren’t uncomfortable to wear/sit in. I don’t think you can go wrong with either! I also highly recommend the AGOLDE long parker shorts [linked below] for a longer short option. Sizing note: I’ve found I need to size down two sizes in all Madewell jeans so I recommend sizing down 1-2 sizes.

WHITE DENIM SHORTS:
*See notes above!

PULL-ON SHORTS:
Most days I’m grabbing my most comfortable pair of shorts — and I know I can’t be the only one! haha. For that reason I added this new [to my capsule] style in my collection. I currently have an athletic pair of pull-on shorts so I’ve ordered a few of the shorts below to try on and review [will update here later] for a dressier/nicer pair option. In terms of style though, the ones I’ve linked to below are a good mix of longer or shorter, drawstring or no drawstring — depending on what you prefer!

Relaxed Pants:

Blue Jeans:
Everlane and Madewell are my current favorite brands for jean pants. If you follow along on my IG/blog, you probably know that I love my Everlane cheeky jeans, but after trying out Madewell jeans earlier this year, Madewell has earned their spot at the top [both brands use the same sustainable manufacturer]. Madewell also has a great variety of style & size inclusive options for many of their pants [i.e mid-rise, high-rise, petite, curvy, etc.]. Abercrombie is another great options check out if you need additional options!

White Jeans:

WHITE DRESS:
You can never go wrong with a white dress for the summer. Whether you’re wearing it casually or need a last minute outfit for a soiree, you can always rely on a white dress to have you summer-ready.

BLACK TSHIRT DRESS:
A t-shirt dress is perfect for those lazy one-and-done outfit days. To make it a little more chic, you can tie a jacket around your waist, add a hat, tote, or sporty convertible belt bag.

MAXI DRESS:
This minimal dress is not only a $50 find–it’s so comfortable you’ll feel like your wearing PJs and I love how versatile it is!

Shoes:
I have a few tried and true favorite shoes that have been in my capsule/worn for the past few years. These Frye sneakers are hands down the BEST quality, white minimal sneaker. They require no breaking in [I first wore mine to Disneyland and had no issues] and are easy to clean since they are leather. I’ve also received many DMs from you guys agreeing they are the best! If the Frye sneakers are a little out of your budget, I also recommend these Sam Edelman which are equally comfortable. And another favorite are these Sam Edelman slides [they have some of my favorite shoes!] which I’ve been wearing for the last 4 years [I wear them so much year-round that I do find they need to be replaced about every 2 years].
Accessories:
I love Marc Jacob’s tote bags, and after my first tote was stolen last year [RIP], I finally replaced it with this new style. I love love this new tote style and decided to go with the medium size [which also has a longer strap]. It fits a really good amount [and a laptop], but I am also torn between what size is best because sometimes I do wish I had the larger one when I have a LOT Of stuff to carry. So I also recommend the larger size because it just fits so much!
Love your capsule wardrobe- seriously so amazing! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
