A comfortable shoe you should have in your closet is a good pair of ballet flats. They strike the perfect balance between a simple pair of sneakers and heels, especially for the office. Ballet flats work for any occasion—from casual to workwear outfits. Below, I’ve shared 8 ways to style ballet flats for fall.
Two ballet flats I’ve been loving lately are the Greta Ballet Flats from Madewell and the Day Glove from Everlane. The Greta flats are incredibly comfortable, and I love that they come in several colors (plus some patterns), making it easy to find the right pair for your style. I’m even thinking about getting another pair in black! The thin strap adds a feminine touch to your outfit.
For a more classic and elevated flat for the office, the Day Glove from Everlane is a great option. While they’re technically not a ballet flat, they’re easy to slip on and off and come in a few colors as well.
Styling Ballet Flats 8 Ways for Fall
OUTFIT #1
I’ve loved styling these Greta Ballet Flats with other chocolate brown pieces, like in the office outfit below. One shopping/styling tip I’d like to share: if possible, try putting together an outfit from the same brand. This helps keep the color tones consistent throughout your look. For example, the outfit below is entirely from Madewell, except for the belt! It makes mixing and matching much easier while creating a cohesive, polished outfit.

Similar to the tip above, this whole outfit is from Everlane! I love how the cardigan almost matches the shade/tone of the flats.

Looking for a relaxed yet put-together look? Try styling denim on denim for a classic fall outfit, paired with some chocolate brown ballet flats. The denim shirt I’m wearing is made from a thicker material, perfect for keeping you warm on those slightly chillier fall days. This look is also ideal for postpartum as the oversized shirt adds comfort and ease without compromising on style.

For a casual fall outfit, I styled the ballet flats with this burgundy button up tank [another trending item and color].

OUTFIT #6
For a more classic and neutral color palette in a casual look, I styled the ballet flats with a cream fitted cardigan. These jeans below are similar to the Madewell PV wide leg jeans [linked in the outfit above], but with less stretch. I’d recommend the Madewell jeans if you’re looking for a little more comfort.

Ballet flats all have some kind of a thin strap, so if you want to make sure it’s visible this fall, style it with a pair of ankle jeans like this one below.

OUTFIT #8
A classic white tee and jeans combo, but styled with ballet flats for a feminine and comfy touch. Since this outfit is pretty simple, I added a belt to draw attention to my waistline, while it adds some texture to the outfit. The belt also matches the chocolate brown of my ballet flats, making it a balanced look.
